POLYAPES
The Mowgli sleeps thirty and is approved for Beaver Sleepovers. The Building has central heating for the colder parts of the season.
The Warren is ideal for groups who wish to have indoor kitchen facilities but still want to camp.
Polyapes covers three distinct areas The Cub Field where both buildings and the main toilet block is located which comprises a mixture of flat grassland and various medium and small wooded sites.
The South Ridge Flat grassland in two parts with light and heavy wooded areas and where the second toilet block is located.
The Whistle Field A remote and quiet part of Polyapes where groups can practice the skills of bivouac building, backwoods camping, survival cooking and all types of fire building, which have received lots of publicity in the media and in Scouting Magazine recently.
Camping at Polyapes.
Polyapes caters for Patrol, Group, District & County events all sites have water points and fire pits. (no concrete bases here!) The main toilet facility has hot water and showers, the ridge unit now has hot water. We encourage open fires at Polyapes, there is plenty of fallen timber around the site, our wood pile can run low in busy periods so bring an alternative heat source just in case. The orienteering trail has been renewed and maps are available (free) on request. We also welcome bookings from LRP groups and other organisations.*
